Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I go winter walking around Hippach?
In Mayrhofen-Hippach, you’ll find numerous cleared winter walking trails in the valley, as well as paths on the Ahorn and Penken. The 24.5 km ‘Easy Trail’ between Mayrhofen, Hippach, Schwendau and Ramsau is particularly enjoyable.
What is the difference between winter walking and snowshoeing?
When winter walking, you’ll be walking on cleared or groomed paths. Snowshoes, on the other hand, are particularly suitable for deep snow and walks off the cleared paths.
Is snowshoeing suitable for beginners too?
Yes. Shorter walks with gentle gradients are ideal for beginners. For walks in open countryside, we recommend a guided snowshoe hike with a guide who knows the area well.
What kit do I need for winter walking?
We recommend sturdy, winter-proof shoes with a good tread, warm clothing and walking poles. In icy conditions, spikes may also be useful.
